We had no idea that Lake George was just two hours away by car. On a whim, we joined our daughter, her husband, and family, who had combined work and play at a private home on the lake. Their gracious host provided a one-of-a-kind day, amid October color and the last of the Lake George boating season, which consisted of a cruise on a venerable Chris Craft power boat to the Dollar Islands (click to enlarge), and then a sunset leisurely cruise on a one-hundred-year-old electric boat to dinner with all hands. The day could not have been better for a couple of old salts.
