Found often on goldenrod, this brown hooded owlet moth caterpillar caught her eye and prompted her to save it for N and A to see later today. We're unsure that it will mature this late in the season, into its nondescript brown moth adult form.

Colorful Caterpillar
By the end of each growing season, sundry bushy plants have inched their way onto our lawn from the hedge. Clippers in hand, M disciplines them by cutting them back, digging them up, and plucking them out of the lawn. Also, the adventurous weeds smother plants placed into the hedge line, such as an arbor vitae, peony, Rose of Sharon, etc., and need careful area clipping in order to foster their growth over that of the weeds.
