Bumblebees

Under flawless blue skies on a late summer afternoon with the feel of early autumn, our sedum continues to attract a large number of active bees, both honey and bumble, and sundry others. This bumblebee clearly has been packing pollen into its pollen pockets for a bit, presumably now almost ready to fly back to the the colony's ground or rotted stump nest cavity, where the precious stuff will be served to royalty, urging the queen to continue to lay her eggs in the still growing paper comb, and feeding her designated heirs, who soon will leave the nest to mate and then find another favorable spot to start another bumblebee colony.
