In a previous post I contrasted two very different homes on a local lake and what the modern ideal might be for a New Englander. Back in 1979 we took our children through parts of historic Europe, including the Saltzburg Castle, where Joseph Haydn composed and his famous wind organ reposes.While touring the area and its famous mountain salt mines, we passed through an old estate, which has been long out of mind and its location lost, but for this photo. However, perhaps some would agree that this medieval, watery mansion may be THE icon, right out of a fairy tale, for a home on a lake.
