MLH spotted this late summer's definite-marked tussock moth caterpillar on the underside of a dahlia leaf a day or so ago. By this morning, it had eaten virtually all of the leaf, and had disappeared, perhaps to pupate in obscurity into its moth form a week or so from now, should temperatures warm enough for a moth to emerge and lay eggs for next year. We fear for it, because scattered frost has been forecast for our area tonight.
