Summer Poppy

Gardening at our retirement cottage on fertile valley soils far out-produces the dirt in our former gardens on Berkshire knolls, often the clay and rock remnant of the Wisconsin glacier's last pulse as it retreated from the area some 10,000 years ago. With an occasional watering and a little composted cow manure, MLH fosters a succession of rich blossoms from spring into late fall.
This poppy, swayed by a gentle breeze and touched with sunlight filtering through nearby trees, seems in the pink, for sure.
