As posted below, we first toured Great Britain and much of Europe with parental guidance in 1957. Our father had been on the Cross-Channel Invasion Planning Committee near London back in 1943, and had much in memory when he showed us as teenagers Britain and Europe still in reconstruction.Soon to be parents ourselves, in the mid 1960s MLH and I honeymooned for two years in Germany, compliments of Uncle Sam (see Visiting Memories below). Later, for business and pleasure we made frequent trips to central Europe, at times adding to personal memories in legendary locales, such as the Hotel Europa, in Venice.
Reflecting its former stature as a cultural and financial center, Venice holds uncountable statues and ancient art, beyond any pretense of our recall. After a couple of days of walking Venice's many small streets, bridges, and suddenly open squares, after enduring almost endless photographic opportunities, MLH in good humor and without prompting copied the pose of the camera's focus.
M, ma belle.
