First Snow

As mentioned in October's End below, we customarily get flurries, sleet, and at times sticking snow by 11 November, Veterans' Day. A few days ago we got bursts of sleet and graupel, or snow pellets. This morning we awoke to a snowy mountain top, and a nearby ski area on the same ridge looked as if sugar powder had been sprinkled on its grassy slopes.
Here at 43 degrees north in New England, the seasons appear to be right on schedule. Happy Birthday, Kate!
