Meadow Meanders II

Meadow milkweed fosters monarch butterflies, tussock moths (see below), and numerous other small fry, such as this one-eighth-inch snail, whose raspy tongue continuously files plant matter from the underside of this leaf. Barely visible in the photo, the bruised leaf oozes a trace of its poisonous milk onto the tiny snail's path.
