On the way to the rookery today, we passed by another beaver pond, where we spotted this adult heron, perhaps one of the parents to our heron chicks above the beaver pond along Berkshire School Road. When we stopped to watch the chicks, they both again were taking turns standing on the rim of the nest and exercising their wings while they awaited the arrival of lunch.
Still no sign of the smaller third chick, so we suspect fowl play.
