Blue Heron - Nesting Update 13

Today is exercise day at the heron rookery, with two chicks alternating flapping their feathering wings while they stand on the edge of the nest. No sign of the third chick yesterday or today.
Upon the arrival of a parent, the two chicks grab at its beak, stimulating it to present food bits, which they both try to grab at the same time, all the while squawking and squabbling.
The feeding cycle seems to be about two hours long. Because both parents look alike, we can't tell if both are attending to feeding these chicks.
After the parent leaves, the chicks quiet, preen, and sun themselves until their bellies urge them to move about the nest and look for the arrival of their next meal.
