They're here! Grab your binoculars and head on down to the beaver pond south of Berkshire School Road just west of Bear's Den Road. Today's visit confirms chicks in the nest, that little blob directly below her head at the nest rim.We counted two heads, but as this parent patiently regurgitated bits from its crop, it seemed to be feeding three chicks. As we watched, the other parent flew away to find more food.
A good pair of 7 x 50 binoculars reveals all. Of course, spotting scopes and tripods offer better viewing yet, and the show should last for about two weeks, when the chicks fledge.
