Winter Signs

Mid-February continues to present winter's face, with frosted mountain tops, refreshed snow cover in contrast with open streams, and signs of animal life in that snow. For example, perhaps a few hours before sunrise a lone beaver hauled out of the stream to snack on some low brush about 10 feet away, then reentered the stream just to the right of its exit, which still shows a bit of mud and debris rubbed from its fur coat (click photo to enlarge).
