Snow Drops

Yesterday's afternoon sun and calm sparked M to step outside and inspect her south-facing gardens, where she spied these hardy snowdrops peeping above the dead leaves. She quickly grabbed her rake and whisked off accumulated detritus, exposing other green shoots responding to mid-February's rising sun angle.
Today, four inches of new snow have buried that brief glimpse of spring, still officially more than a month away.
