The Autumnal Equinox
At 5:19 pm EDT today the tilted axis of the earth will be perpendicular to the sun, marking the moment when the sun sets at the North Pole and rises at the South Pole as the earth circles the sun. 
Already we see the signs of autumn with a light frost two nights ago and our trees, vines, and shrubs beginning their famous colorful changes. We especially enjoy the early reds, golds, and purples contrasted against still abundant greens as we stroll along our nearby country lanes.
