Tree swallows eat many bugs on the wing, including the bloodsucking kind, and so merit approval, and fostering. Although they compete with our beloved eastern bluebirds for nesting cavities, provided with sufficient bluebird boxes, the swallow will take one and the bluebird another, and settle down in peace to raise their families. This swallow has taken the front box, and the bluebird the box on the back lawn. Each has four chicks, and the whole of summer ahead of them to feast upon abundant bugs.

Tree swallows eat many bugs on the wing, including the bloodsucking kind, and so merit approval, and fostering.
