A deep low pressure stalled in the Gulf of Maine, bringing high winds, eight inches of snow, and cold, pretty much a normal January snow storm. Backing out of our garage, we busted one snow drift against the door and then breasted the snowplow berm at the end of the drive. On the way to breakfast in Egremont, we eased along through windswept and drifted roadway, thinking that hot coffee would be good.
After breakfast,
we drove to K&T's, cutting new tracks down their driveway with the snow up to the belly pan on the car. On the way home, we took a scenic byway through deep woods, where the snow was deepening undisturbed by the wind.Back at the cottage, a glance at the thermometer showed why our car windows had frosted over on the inside.
