Another very hot and sultry day over at the rookery high over the beaver pond, and a duplicate of yesterday's heron activities, with one taking its ease in the nest awaiting lunch, and the other splashing among the cattails in search of its own food,
such as crayfish and fingerlings, under the watchful eye of a painted turtle,
now big enough in its tough shell to avoid more than a cursory probe from an adolescent heron.
