Red

As winter progresses, our bird feeder seems to get increased attention about 12 hours before the weather changes for the worse. With snow covering the ground under a low January sun and the temperature in the mid 20s, doves, finches, small woodpeckers, sparrows, and cardinals vie for feeding time. As they feed they scatter much seed, which provides an opportunity for Red to glean the dropped seeds from the deck. So far he has not gotten on the feeder, but such is his destiny.
The forecast is for dropping temps all day tomorrow, with the arrival of another Arctic air mass, which will bring well below zero readings Monday morning and for several days after.
Red wastes no time.
