Spring Comes!

A few frosty morns and sunny days have prompted a pair of bluebirds to inspect and guard the two boxes in our backyard. (Click photo to enlarge.) Especially in the mornings, they bounce from birdhouse to birdhouse, peeking into one and then the others, as they signal to each others with soft whistles and wing waving. Should any other bird suggest that it might pause on either house, the pair leave no doubt as to who the present tenants are.
We believe them to be from last year's production or even the parents, because she made it plain by immediately inspecting the blue dish that she knows M will put meal worms into it whenever she comes to the dish. They already have us trained.
