Last March 20 we found mute swans in our area, the first time for us. They did not stay in the area, frustrating our hopes for cygnets. Today, our walk along the Mill Pond showed growing pools in the melting ice, and one swan accompanied by attending Canada geese. No sign of a mate, but we guess that it doesn't travel north to its nesting areas alone.

The Return of the Mute Swan
Last March 20 we found mute swans in our area, the first time for us. They did not stay in the area, frustrating our hopes for cygnets. Today, our walk along the Mill Pond showed growing pools in the melting ice, and one swan accompanied by attending Canada geese. No sign of a mate, but we guess that it doesn't travel north to its nesting areas alone.
