The Return of Spring

Overnight the temperature plummeted into the 60s, and a fresh northwest breeze swept summer far out to sea. Visibility jumped to, well, the skyline.

This evening the moon will rise along a dramatic slant in the east, seemingly prolonging its rise and the optical illusion of a large, hanging moon at the horizon. We will head for higher ground, where our CCD-backed C8 telescope will capture the event under pristine viewing conditions.

With luck, tomorrow's post may contain a clear shot of the moon's rise.
