Rejoice in the Ides of March

Julius Caesar was warned by a seer to beware the Ides, or the 15th, of March. New Englanders rejoice in the March Ides, after daylight savings has added an hour to their day's activities and increasing sunshine plunges its bright sword into the side of Winter, that tyrant obstructing Spring's advance, at least in the northern hemisphere.
An assortment of annual flowers celebrate the assassination of Winter, among them the violet, my mother's favorite, and one that lasts into summer, decorating the cracks between flagstones and greening lawns.
Hail Caesar! Death to Winter's tyranny!
