Swan Update

A return hike into a local backwoods pond verifies that paired mute swans (see below) remain and perhaps will soon start a family. Meanwhile, another single mute swan rests on Smiley's Pond in Egremont, where, James tells us, for the past several years it mixes with the Canada geese for a few days and then flies on. This bachelor came over to inspect us, as if it may be accustomed to public viewing and, perhaps, occasional bits of bread.
