Mother's Daffodils

Beginning some 50 years ago, we sporadically helped our mother dig, plant, and maintain a bulb bed, where over decades she added a wide variety of daffodil and narcissus. On our rural Berkshire knoll, they are almost the only flowers not eaten by the plentiful deer.
For many years they shared the bed with various iris, peony, and violets. Recently, long after Mother's absence, the bed was converted to lawn, where each spring many of her favorite selections still make their showy appearances, evoking memories of Mother cutting spring flowers for our table and weeding her bulb bed.
